McGuckin sees unveiling of state's new temporary license plates ...

The state Motor Vehicle Commission on Thursday unveiled new temporary tags for cars and trucks that have just been purchased.

The new eTemp Tags are made of poly paper, which can survive the elements well beyond the permitted 20 or 30 days of lawful use, and will be mounted in the rear license plate holder just like a regular tag.

The change is to make it easier and safer for police to read temporary tags and will also help the state collect unpaid E-ZPass tolls, according to MVC officials.

Greg McGuckin

Raymond P. Martinez, MVC chairman and chief administrator, showed off the new eTemp Tags at a news conference Thursday at the Lester Glenn Chrysler dealership on Route 37. He was surrounded by representatives from the State Police, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and Toms River Police Department. Assemblyman Gregory P. McGuckin, R-Ocean, and Toms River Mayor Thomas F. Kelaher also joined him.
