Hi, I just bought a new GTI, and was disappointed to see the dealer plate mounted with two small screws directly into the plastic bumper....not at all like my old Passat. The holes look partially stripped, and are crooked. This mounting method does not look like any long term way to mount plates...much less a license plate frame...for the long term. Surely VW has engineered something better!! I called Customer Care, and was told this is a "dealership problem". In looking around at other GTI's, it seems to be a universal design flaw that has nothing to do with a particular dealership. Can anyone help?
