This 1974 BMW 2002tii (VIN 2782350) has been in California since 1981, and the current seller has performed a rolling restoration on all areas except paint over the last 30k miles. The only non-original items he has added are all desirable and reversible: rebuilt and reupholstered E21 Recaro seats, E30 mesh alloys, a Getrag 5-speed, dynamat sound deadening, and braided stainless brake lines. This numbers matching car is terrific on the road thanks to extensive mechancial work, and looks terrific. It is available in Santa Barbara, California for $14,750.
I’ve left the paint as-is — better to park at the grocery store — and it is in nice shape in most places. There is a golfball sized ding in the hood and the clear-coat on the trunk is hazy. The little rust spots shown in the photo album are on the bottom edge of the rear window.

The photo album shows the thorough job done to bring the factory Gobi Tan interior to like-new condition. It looks beautiful, and the seller tells us that the most subtle but beneficial drivability upgrade was to fully sound insulate the cabin with Dynamat material during installation of the period color carpet kit. As important for wind noise reduction was the replacement of all the rubber around the doors, the front and rear windows and the rear quarter windows, something usually only done on higher dollar restorations.
The 147,500 miles on the odometer can be confirmed by following the documentation trail back to new. The engine bay is also very clean, with work done to restore factory-new finishes to the air box, intake plenum, and radiator. It has all the correct tii bits down to the exhaust manifold heat shield.
The car was repainted at some point in its factory Fjord Blue, a any flaws are shown in the album photos. These include a hood ding and some minor rust bubbling below the rear glass and on the lower corner of the passenger door.
