Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help to locate a wanted man who ran from a traffic stop in the Welches area Tuesday afternoon. The man has 3 felony warrants and was last seen running into the woods south of the Hoodland Shopping Center.

JOSEPH WAYNE KAUTZ, age 29, is wanted for the following felony warrants:

* Dangerous Drugs --- Possession of Methamphetamine (Multnomah County)
* Probation Violation (Clackamas County)
* Parole Violation (Oregon State Parole Board)

KAUTZ is described as a white male, 6'1", 200 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, blue jeans, yellow shirt, and dark colored cap. He has been known to carry weapons in past.

On April 17, 2012 at approximately 12:53 p.m. an OSP senior trooper stopped a passenger car for unlawful use of studded tires in the Hoodland Shopping Center parking lot located south of Highway 26 at Welches Road. The male driver, later identified as KAUTZ, jumped out of the car and fled on foot toward a wooded residential area south of the shopping center.

OSP and Clackamas County deputies searched the area for an hour but didn't find KAUTZ.

The car also displayed two different license plates. The front plate belonged to the vehicle but the rear plate was reported stolen from another vehicle. A female passenger and dog in the car were later released from the scene.

Anyone seeing KAUTZ is asked to call 9-1-1 or OSP Northern Command Center dispatch at 800-452-7888.
