Part of this complete Breakfast! - How Much?

I was wondering how much our 57 Chevrolet cost when brand new. I have the booklets describing the accessories, and their prices. I also have the prices of regular car parts that one could order to build the exact car one wanted.

Our Chevy came with several add ons, and over the years I have added more original equipment. Our car already had power steering, and EZI tinted glass, but didn't have back up lights. I also discovered that the consumer was charged extra for items that were standard, such as directionals. I've added up all the prices, including accessories for our car to get it's original sticker price. I then ran that number through an inflation calculator, and was quite surprised.
Our Chevrolet is a mid range model, a Two Ten. It sold for a bit less than the top of the line Bel Air.
Model # 2113 Sport Sedan (4 door hardtop) with V-8 engine $2758.23
Directionals 16.75
EZI Glass 33.47

Mirror Outside Rear View Body Mount 6.35
Radio Push Button w/ Antenna 102.50
Shield Door Handle 5.95
Speaker Rear Seat 16.15
Total 3701.53
The total includes over 900 bucks worth of add ons. Now for the surprise I got.
$3701.53 in 1957 is $30,265.64 in 2012 dollars for a car that was not the top of the line model.
In 1957 Chevrolet also offered seat belts, and shoulder harnesses, fuel injection, power windows and seats, power brakes, automatic headlight dimmers, windshield washer, power antenna, compass, electric windshield wipers, spare tire Continental Kit, and of all things, a men's electric shaver that plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet. Air Conditioning could be added for $453.53 in 1957 dollars. If most of those items had been added to our car, it would have a sticker price of $35,810.38 in today's dollars! That's almost ten grand over what Chevrolet asks for it's full size car nowadays.
I knew the original owner, and she wasn't made of money and worked at the local museum. I bought the car from the family estate around 1984, which ended up being worth just over a million bucks at that time. I guess she could afford the car.
