Is This iPad 3′s Rear Aluminium Case? – [PHOTOS] | RazorianFly

At this point, we think it’s fair to say that if someone were to round up all these purported iPad 3 parts which have reportedly been photographed over the last few days, someone could probably hack together a make-shift model of Apple’s next-generation tablet themselves.

However, whilst all these leaks may seem as though they are getting a tad tedious and pointless, it’s important to remember that, if these leaks do in fact have any weight behind them, we could be looking at manufacturing parts for Apple’s next-generation product(s), even before the company has announced its own plans to introduce such products.

This post continues below …

Continuing the reported hardware leaks and following the general trend of the rumor mill, our friends at MIC Gadget earlier today posted what appear to be a few purported shots of the iPad 3‘s outer rear casing.

As for changes in the case compared to the rear cover of the iPad 2according to the guys at Gizmodo – the above-pictured rear case of the iPad 3 lands in at about 1mm (0.039 inches) thicker. The site also notes that the iPad’s bezel seen at the edge of the shelled out case is also thinner than the iPad 2.

Noting the overall design of this rear plate appears to follow a smoother, more longer-tapered aesthetic compared to Apple’s current iPad model, Gizmodo is also quick to note that Apple’s Wi-Fi and 3G enabled model of the new tablet is reportedly expected to arrive just a fraction thicker (about 0.5mm) than its Wi-Fi-only brother.

Following the reported confirmation from MacRumors that Apple’s iPad 3 will carry that long-rumored “Retina” display, MIC Gadget summed up the information it has reportedly managed to retrieve from its own sources this afternoon, proceeding to note that – if their sources are correct – the iPad 3 will feature:

- A 9.7 inch 2048 × 1536 Retina Display.

- Possible quad core A6, but dual core for sure.
The processing power is required for the Retina Display.

A much improved camera, although maybe not be 8MP as production costs are high.

- 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options

The site also added that – (according to one of their sources) – Apple may also have “a sub $400 device with 7-inch screen” in development, although it is unclear at this point if this will be announced alongside what is now rumored to be “iPad 3″.

Apple is currently rumored to have plans to host its next special media event, at which it is reported the company will unveil its third-generation iPad, on the morning of March 7.
